The last 24 hours have been..... well interesting to say the least!! From a week where I was extremely excited to get back onto a plane and head off to an exciting event in Sweden with some players, to being stuck in an airport terminal for the last 24 hours! Yes..... You have read that correctly!!
Unfortunately yesterday when I landed my COVID-19 PCR test had expired outside of the 48hr window which is required in Sweden, however at that point I still expected to be able to do an onsite PCR test and wait.... but unfortunately no such luck! The only option was to return from where I came and even more frustrating, letting down the players that I should be helping this week!!
As I slowly told people (Including my wonderfully understanding wife), almost everyone spoke as if it was the end of the world!! And while it would be easy to slip into that mindset, if you take a step back and look at things, it really is not that bad. Yes..... It's a pain in the ass...... Yes its frustrating....... Yes I am gutted that I cannot attend the event and help the girls..... But when you take a step back and look at the reality of the situation, I get one uncomfortable nights sleep in a warm & dry place, I get food and water, plus I get to go home to my family tomorrow.
As I rose from my uncomfortable seat this morning and looked out the window I could only remember a quote that goes along the lines of "No matter how bad things may seem at times, the sun will come up tomorrow", you just have to keep going.........
Adversity is normal, sometimes you have to take a step back, assess the situation, and look at what you can do rather than what you cannot.
