EXPECT & ACCUMULATE

Managing your expectations and staying in the present can be the most difficult part of competing at any level. “Expect and Accumulate” is designed to help you practice these two very skills and make good decisions.

You can play this game over 9 or 18 holes, and is best played against other people.

The goal of the game is to accumulate as many points as possible, and to do this you need to manage your expectations on each shot and not gamble too much at the wrong time.

Each hole offers 5 opportunities to score points:

· Hit the fairway from the tee

· Hit the green with your approach shot (Must be GIR)

· Up & Down

· 2 Putt from 20ft + with first putt (After GIR)

· Hole a Putt from Inside 10ft with first putt (Double Points – After GIR)

The rules are as follows:

· Before each shot you must gamble a certain amount of points (Between 1 and 5 points) on successfully completing the shot. This must be based on your expectations of completing that individual shot. For example if you have a wide open fairway from the tee, you may want to gamble 5 points, while if your approach is coming from behind a tree from 220 yards out, you may be better off gambling 1 point and laying up into a simple position in order to maximise your up and down points.

· Any time you successfully complete a task you add the points on to your score, while if you miss the target then you take it away from your score.

· If you hit the green in regulation and you are outside of 20ft, then 2 putts will secure your points. If you happen to hole it from outside of 20ft then double the points you have gambled.

· If you hit the green in regulation and you are inside 10ft, then successfully holing the putt is worth double points.

· If you chip in while attempting to make an up and down, double your points

· If you are on a par 5 and have the opportunity to go for the green, you have a decision to make. The first option is a free lay up into any position, then you can maximise the points you gamble on the next shot. Alternatively you can go aggressively and try to hit the green in two, ultimately scoring you double points. The catch is simply that if you miss you do not lose any points, however if you have put 5 points on the line, those points must be put on the next approach shot regardless of where you are playing from. For example if I go for the green in two having gambled 5 points , miss in a bunker then my 5 points are now gambled on that bunker shot hitting the GIR (This cannot be changed). If however the same shot goes into the water or out of bounds, you instantly lose those points.
